Introductory Scent Work Training
Did you know that your dog uses his nose to interpret the world around him. There’s nothing he enjoys more than sniffing and searching. Dogs are so good at sniffing that they literally sniff in 3D.
Most of us have seen programs on TV showing the police and security services asking dogs to help find explosives, drugs or missing people. Or you may have seen dogs searching luggage in Airports or sports stadiums. You might think that these dogs have been specifically bred to do these jobs, some have but it might surprise you to learn that your own pet dogs nose can learn to find hidden target scents too.
So what is scentwork? Scentwork is all about teaching your dog to find specific target scents. It’s a healthy hobby that allows them to behave the way nature intended. The introduction to Scentwork workshop is split into two 3 hour sessions. The first workshop will teach you how to pair a target scent with food. By the end of the session your dog will be searching boxes, bags and chairs.

There are Scentwork Trials which offers 8 Levels of progression. Progression is by passing the individual levels at any trial organized by scentwork UK against a consistent national standard.
